All I Want For Christmas is...

Dear Santa,

It has been a long fifty-one weeks since I wrote you last. A lot of things have changed since last year as well. I think I have been a reasonably good person this year. With all of the stress and tension of high school, someone is allowed to blow up at least once right? I hope so at least. The last few months have been the worst, but I'm hoping that the new year will bring joy back into my life again. This year all I want for Christmas is for me and my family to be able to rebuild the funeral home and be able to reopen. Feel free to do it for us. The chimney should be open but with all of the gases and fumes in there I wouldn't suggest it. And, you would be contaminating a crime scene, but do what you wish. I'm sure whatever you have planned for us is a good thing. Can't wait to see what magical thing you will do this year. If I don't hear from you, see you in another year.

Sing It Out Loud!!!

My all-time favorite TV show is Glee. It comes on FOX, Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. The reason I enjoy it is because it is a reality of what high school is like, and how it is different for everyone. Also, because they have a lot of good music. I encourage everyone to watch this show. Mostly because out of all the characters everyone can find someone to relate to.

Never Had the Chance

About a month ago I received a call from my mother while I was at my house. When I answered she told me that my brother was in the emergency room. I followed my father to the hospital immediately. When we arrived I saw four or five nurses surrounding my brother's hospital bed. One of the nurses finally noticed my father and I and told us that Jaxon was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. At that moment I had no feeling in my body aside from lament. About an hour later he was sent on an ambulance to BSA Hospital in Amarillo. The reason for his transport was because of the more prestigious doctors in Jaxon's field of disease. As I stood there watching them prick and poke him with needles, all I could think about was how much more difficult it would make his life. The gradually increasing responsibilities he will have to overcome are everlasting. This didn't physically hurt me but the mental toll was extreme. Being the stubborn child as he is, Jaxon overcame the full week of constant tests and medical care and is now back to playing with all of his toys again. As much as I love the kid his schedule is outrageous. Breakfast at exactly seven in the morning, insulin shot following breakfast, play time til ten, snack, insulin shot if needed, nap, lunch, insulin shot if needed, play time, nap, snack, play time, dinner insulin shot, bottle and bed. This is constant schedule it takes for my brother to survive every day.

Almost Like Another Hand!

This year a man named Mark Stark invented a solution to arm amputees. His invention was a mechanical hand that has a cord attached to a socket at the shoulder of the amputee's arm. The hand allows the person to grip a wine glass or even to throw and catch a ball. Most of the abilities are from practice but the amputee still has the capability. Though the prosthetic hand is not the same as the amputee's original hand it is a very big step. This is an important invention, I think, because it gives people second chances to relive what they once took for granted.

The M&M Boys 1960-1964

Even if I was just a fan I would die to be able to travel back in time to the Mantle & Maris Era. The one year in particular would be 1961. I would love to travel along side Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris as they chased the Babe's record throughout the season. The best part of the trip back in time would be when Roger Maris hit the sixty-first home run in the 61' World Series versus the Baltimore Orioles.

My Memorial Epic!

Well, truth is, I was out there crab fishing with my friends, Samm and Patterson. We were making an audition video for the Deadliest Catch. We were wading along in our little paddle boat when a huge whale came out of the dark blue ocean. At first I was a little freaked out, but then I remembered that whales don't eat humans they just eat shrimp. So I punched the whale in the nose and saved my friends. The swim back to shore was the worst part because I had to carry both of them on my back while I was swimming.

The Benevolent Bear

It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's me, The Benevolent Bear! My friend has been imprisoned for his so-called crime. What really happened was he was framed. You see he is a bank teller and when the bank robbers came to rob the bank they busted the cameras and left him in the vault framed. I know this because I have the ability to see every part of the world at once. But that's besides the point. Truth is I'm a super hero if you haven't noticed. I also have three superpowers including the one I just told you about and two more. I can also fly and I have the ability to control peoples minds. I had to break my friend out somehow. So I first walked into the prison and told the guards, with my mind, to go outside. Then I flew through the building to my friends cell. Then I controlled the guard and made him open the cell. Then we flew out the window and into the new world.

Drug Awarenes

Yesterday during the presentation I learned two very important details about drugs. The first is to never text and drive, and the second is to never abuse steroids.

Celebri-T's or Celebri-Not's

Celebrities, such as Lindsay Lohan, sometimes feel that they are above the law because of what they are famous for. This ignorance of the law leads them to express more feelings through illegal actions. When punished for these crimes, the stars show even more immaturity by not participating in the punishment. I feel that celebrity punishment should be mildly worse than that of a regular person. I say this because they are the role models in the U.S. If they are to set examples for the younger population in America they need to straighten up and take responsibility.

Most Horrifying Time of the Year!

My favorite Halloween memory is from two years ago. If you don't already know, me and my parents go all out for Halloween. I knew that that this particular year would be great because there was no distraction like a football game. We covered the porch with black fabric and I stood behind there waiting to scare people. As soon as someone came to the door, I would reach my hand out and lightly touch their shoulder. One person in particular made the night completely hilarious. A teenage girl came walking around the corner. She wasn't in any costume so I knew I had to get her. I sent a text to my mom and told her to turn out the front porch light as soon as the girl stepped on the welcome mat. The lights finally went out and I slowly extended my arms through a hole in the fabric. At the last second she turned and saw the mysterious object reaching at her and jumped against the brick wall behind her. She got up and I came out from behind the hiding place even though I wasn't wearing a costume she was still scared and took of running down the street.

It was just a regular library, but when night strikes, it becomes alive and extremely spooky. Three girls came for research and stayed overtime. When midnight approached, the girls had no intention of researching anymore because they soon discovered that there was no way out. The books started screaming loudly and the girls were petrified. When they turned around, the third girl was hung from a tree and we saw the blood streaming down her head! It was too scary to watch. We soon split up to find an exit, but when I turned to show my friend that the book was alive, I saw her dead with a stabbed back! I was the only survivor and it was only a matter of time before they would kill me. I quickly turned around and I saw, aaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Why are teachers so excited during Halloween parties?
Because there's so much spirit!!!

What did the really ugly man do for a living?
 He was a mask model!!!

A boy walked in to a Halloween Party wearing a sheet on his head.
"Are you a ghost," his friends asked.
"No, I'm and unmade bed!!!"

A Fortune Left Behind

I once heard the statement,"We are all one small adjustment away from being a great success." This makes me wonder what adjustment will make me a legend, or what chance I have already missed out on.When I finally kick the bucket here in about ninety or so years, I hope that I will be remembered by all my peers. I hope to have not only been a good friend but also a good father and boss. After I die, I hope to leave my family enough money to never have to work again. But, no matter what I do or how long it takes me I hope I leave my mark on this world.

Noodles, Noodles, Noodles

One of my favorite foods is Creamy Chicken Ramen Noodles. The way I make them is to cook the noodles and add a little bit of milk and about a spoon full of butter. I remember a specific day when I was at home nearly starving to death. I put the noodles in a bowl and boiled them in scorching hot water. When the noodles texture became soft and moist, I started to pour in the the milk. After gently stirring the mixture of noodles, flavoring, milk, and butter. I sat down at the table and began to eat. After one bite the dank taste filled my mouth and sank down through my stomach. What usually was an appetizing meal turned into another example of a laxative. I swallowed that bite afraid to spit it out on my computer. I poured the rest of the bowl out in the sink and saw little milk chunks rolling down the drain. After smelling the milk in the fridge I knew it was rotten and spoiled.

The Beauty of Music

Music has one of the greatest effects on today's world. With so many styles of music there is no one left out. I listen to a few different types of music. My parents raised me to enjoy the classics such as AC/DC, Guns & Roses, and Journey. It wasn't until I was about ten or eleven years old that I started experimenting with other styles. Today on my Ipod you will find a medley of classical rock, hip hop, 21st Century Rap, and a little bit of country. I get bored with one type of music very easily so I have to keep a variety just to stay entertained. My favorite artist is Matthew Morrison, because his music speaks to you and always has a certain story to it. Speaking of Matthew Morrison, he wrote one of my favorite songs "Still Got Tonight." As for my least favorite song, I really don't have one. All music is unique and entertaining in its different ways. Most of the time my music selection is basically chosen off how I feel. My parents listen mostly to different country bands, and different Broadway Tunes that I have never heard before. I approve of their music because it is their choice which music they listen to. I have no say in what they enjoy.

Evolution of Television

Whether people enjoy it or not, television has evolved into something new. Statements that used to be frowned upon ten or twenty years ago are now being flaunted around as common slang. But let's face it, America, just like a student in a classroom, gets bored from time to time and it is up to prime time entertainment to get us excited again. I remember sitting on my couch watching the Emmys with my parents. The centerpiece music performance by Lonely Island and a list of guest appearances was a little short of what we would call "appropriate." The medley of Akon's "I Just Had Sex" and Lonely Island's "It's Not Gay In A Three Way" was a crowd favorite but was utterly inappropriate. Is it bad that you can't even let your young aged children watch television any without picking out a slang term? Television has to keep up with the pace of an average high school when it comes to comedy, and with drama series, you have to take that extra step to attract more fans. Television producers have to do what they have to do to make money. Sure, I don't always agree with what they choose. But that's not my choice. I remember hearing a comedian once say, "I'm not going to guess what your personal line of decency is, I cross my own from time to time. It's how I know I still have one."

The Flag That Still Flies

This flag was found at ground zero in New York City after the 9/11 attacks. The next night the New York Yankees were given permission to fly this flag during game three of the World Series. I saw this flag as a sign of hope because it symbolizes the fact that you can attack us. But, like this flag, we will always find different places to hold together this country and rebuild. The story of the flag continues. The Yankees went on to win the World Series in game seven, giving the city hope to rebuild after the tragedy.

My Favorite Activities

Aside from school and homework, there are many activities I participate in to make my day more exciting or just to make it go by faster. One of my main hobbies is playing the quads in the band. Even though it looks fun and easy there is always a challenge around the corner. It is also a great stress release when you are having a bad day. Another hobby of mine is playing sports outside and at the WAC. During the winter at least once or twice a week my friends and I drive out to the baseball field and play a game until it either gets too late or too cold. My third favorite hobby is eating. I enjoy trying new foods and new styles of foods.

Back to School

The first week of school felt like it lasted just as long as my entire eighth grade year. The transition from junior high to high school wasn't bad, but there is a lot more homework. The best part of high school is only having two real classes after lunch and then athletics. The worst part is that they can keep us in athletics as long as they want. My hardest subject is Pre-AP English. Although we read a lot of interesting and entertaining novels, we have a lot of homework in that class. I hope this year is great.
